SITA

Sita is the daughter of King Janaka and, was discovered emerging from the earth. Because she came miraculously from the ground, Sita is considered the daughter of Bhumi Devi (the Earth Goddess). She later married Ram after he proved his strength and virtue by lifting Shiva's sacred bow. Revered as an incarnation of Lakshmi, the goddess of prosperity and devotion, Sita embodies dharma through her purity, integrity, and unwavering commitment to righteousness. Her story is most famously told through her exile alongside Ram and her abduction by Ravana, the king of Lanka. Despite enduring great hardship, she remains steadfast in her faith and dignity, becoming a symbol of resilience and inner strength. During the search for her, Hanuman plays a pivotal role as Ram’s devoted messenger, crossing oceans to locate her in Lanka and reaffirming her presence and protection. After her rescue, she faced trials that test her purity, and in some versions of the Ramayana ultimately returns to the earth from which she came, reflecting her profound connection to nature and the divine order of the universe.
