KALI
Kali is a powerful Hindu goddess who represents the transformative force of the Divine Mother. She is often depicted with dark skin, weapons, and a garland of severed heads, symbols that traditionally represent the destruction of ego, ignorance, and illusion. Kali is closely associated with Shakti, the divine energy that sustains the universe, and is a fierce form of Parvati, as Durga is Parvati's protective aspect. One of Kali's most famous stories appears in the Devi Mahatmyam, where she defeats powerful demons that threaten cosmic order. She is frequently shown standing on Shiva, her consort, symbolizing the union of divine energy and pure consciousness. Although her appearance can seem fearsome, devotees revere Kali as a loving and protective mother who helps remove obstacles, overcome fear, and guide spiritual transformation. Ramakrishna is widely regarded as one of the foremost devotees of Kali, teaching that sincere devotion can lead to direct realization of the Divine.
