DALAI LAMA
His holiness, the 14th Dalai Lama is the foremost representative of the teachings of the Buddha and Tibetan Buddhism. Known for his message of compassion, kindness, and universal responsibility, he has dedicated his life to promoting peace, ethical living, interfaith understanding, and the well-being of humanity. Through his teachings and public service, he has encouraged people of all backgrounds to cultivate inner peace and develop a greater sense of empathy for others. The Dalai Lama emphasizes that genuine happiness arises from compassion, wisdom, and a disciplined mind rather than from external circumstances alone. His teachings blend ancient Buddhist insights with practical guidance for modern life, inspiring people around the world to live with greater awareness, understanding, and concern for the welfare of all beings. Thomas Merton and the Dalai Lama met in the 60’s to talk spirituality and the Dalai Lama said afterwards that Thomas Merton was in the top three influential people in his life.
