VISHNU

Vishnu is known as the preserver and protector within the Trimurti, alongside Brahma and Shiva. He is believed to uphold cosmic order (dharma) and restore balance whenever it is disrupted. Vishnu is often depicted resting on the cosmic serpent Shesha, floating on the primordial ocean, symbolizing infinite time, stability, and the foundation of existence. Vishnu is said to descend to Earth in different forms called avatars to restore righteousness and guide humanity. Some of his most well-known avatars include Ram and Krishna, both central to the epics Ramayana and Mahabharata. The Vishnu Purana further describes Vishnu’s cosmic role, his avatars, and the structure of the universe, emphasizing devotion (bhakti) as a path to understanding the sustaining force behind all creation.
