Sat-Chit-Ananda

Sat = Existence
Chit = Awareness
Ananda = Bliss

Sat–Chit–Ananda describes the true nature of the Self as existence, awareness, and bliss. It points to a realization that lies beyond the shifting experiences of the mind and the external world, where one comes to recognize a deeper, unchanging reality beneath all change. Sat-Chit-Ananda is not considered something to be created or acquired. It is the recognition of what has always been present at the core of our being. This understanding is reflected in the teachings of Ramakrishna, who emphasized the direct experience of the divine as ever-present and accessible through sincere devotion. Similarly, Ramana Maharshi pointed to the practice of self-inquiry, guiding seekers to turn inward with the question “Who am I?” to uncover the unchanging awareness behind all thoughts and experiences.
