INDRA

Indra is the Hindu god of weather, rain, storms, thunder, war, and king of the gods in heaven. He wields a thunderbolt, Vajra. His legendary weapon is immensely powerful and symbolizes invincibility and righteousness, he famously used it to slay the serpent Vritra and release the world's essential waters from drought.  Indra rides a white elephant, Airavata and also has eyes all over his body because of a curse that he once received and therefore is also known as “the thousand-eyed”. One of the most famous encounters Indra had is when Krishna lifted the Govardhan Hill to protect villagers from Indra’s storm. Indra, angered that the villagers worshipped Krishna instead of him, sends heavy rain. After witnessing Krishna’s divine power, Indra realizes his error and bows in recognition.
