Shiva is a Hindu deity embodying cosmic creation, preservation, and transformation, known as the "Destroyer" who facilitates renewal through destruction.  He represents time, yoga, meditation, and the cosmic dancer as Nataraja. Often depicted with a crescent moon, third eye, and serpent Vasuki, he symbolizes inner consciousness, impermanence, and control over fear, with his iconic trident (Trishula) representing divine power.  His symbols include the lingam, symbolizing formless reality, and the damaru drum, the primal sound of creation.
